I was visiting London for a week and a half and decided not to take a guitar (though I had travel-friendly models, but didn't want the extra baggage). About a day or two in, I regretted it... hard. I had recently seen a Furch Little Jane review on YouTube and wondered if I could find one in town to play for fun (I told myself I didn't need another guitar). guitarguitar in Camden (shout out!) had one floor model: the Cedar / Mahogany. It took 1 strum. Furch's voicing isn't advertising lingo. It's stunning. And it definitely had to come home with me. I own (far too) many guitars and this sweet little instrument is hands down the most stunning (especially for its size) and best playing (action is stellar!) guitar I now own. And that's up against a number of high quality instruments that also sound and play phenomenally. I usually like guitars with a little more color (like bursts) or other appointments (though the locking tuners readily win me over too), but at the end of the day, sound is everything. And, well, I don't say this lightly: she's my new favorite.

Nut fitted perfect to my 13 year old Stonebridge (Furch) GS 23 C with a slight bit of sanding.
Only problem was that on removal of old nut it damaged the surface finish of the headstock,so improvised a dummy trussrod cover .

Great shirt, but it runs a little small. If you are a big guy, get the largest size available. I am not a large guy. I got an XL size shirt, and it fits fine.

After decades playing a Guild jumbo I've fallen in love with travel guitars for their shorter scale length and playability. I own two GS Minis, a Taylor 811, and an Orangewood Oliver Jr. I used an overseas work stint as an excuse to get a Furch Pioneer MM shipped to my hotel. I was surprised how small it was: it's like an adult sized neck attached to a child sized body. Then I was astonished by the tone, which is surprisingly rich, and better balanced than any of my other "minis". The sustain is fantastic. The neck (I got the 43mm nut width) is comfortable and crazily solid (I guess that's the CNR). The appointments are spartan, but don't feel cheap. The build quality is flawless. Of course it doesn't have the volume of a larger guitar, but my hotel neighbors would appreciate that.

My only criticism is I wish the gig bag had more structure, I expected more at that price. While Taylor has been unable to make an all solid wood travel guitar with a cutaway, like the Pioneer, they do make an awesome structured gig bag. We'll see how this beauty survives the trip home.

Making friends with a short scale guitar is like picking a pal who's a little different from the rest of the crowd. You know the comments, "..why are you friends with him, or here". You may not know what immediately engages you, but it's something. And a friendship blossoms. Truly expressive affordable short scale guitars are rare. As you explore their personality you find yourself deeper and deeper into those expressive qualities of the instrument. Sure, it's shorter and smaller and more easily transportable. But it's also a friend who is going to challenge you, and encourage you to win a purity and clarity of expression you may never have considered before. This one has great sonic balance and none of the sudden jarring dead notes you can find hiding even among the scales of some considerably more expensive guitars. There's minor resonance on the A2, but generally each note easily escapes the diminutive size sound box, there's a strong harmonic richness here. I expect the solid wood back and sides to take at least a year to break in but the personality is already readily identifiable: The top is responsive, quicker on the attack (I suspect) that spruce and with warm dark complex overtones. It's really responsive to touch and to finger placement and I expect it to become more so as it ages. A couple of days after buying mine from Mika at Silver Wolf Music in Pau (France) I played a couple of soft lyrical Irish airs at a wedding in Brignoles, no amplification, just lush lyrical tones, drifting through an olive grove. Don't pass this by, there's a lifelong friendship waiting here.
