tonewoods
Wood is the heart of every Furch guitar.

We use only carefully selected tonewoods sourced from trusted suppliers around the world – with a strong focus on rare exotic species. Each year, we process nearly 60 m³ of wood, and we actively strive to give back. Through our partnership with the Arimae community in Panama, we support sustainable planting and care of cocobolo and mahogany trees in the tropical forest ecosystem.
The Finest Selection
Though compact and designed for travel, the Little Jane is crafted from the same high-grade tonewoods as our full-size models. Each piece — from the spruce or cedar soundboard to rosewood or mahogany back and sides — undergoes multi-stage selection based on stiffness, grain uniformity, acoustic potential, and natural aesthetics. We use only trusted, certified suppliers and classify all materials from A to Master Grade. The result: a travel-sized guitar with a full, responsive, and character-rich voice you can count on anywhere.

Sitka Spruce
A highly versatile top wood that delivers clear, balanced tone with strong projection. Ideal for a wide range of playing styles.

Western Red Cedar
A softer top wood that offers a warmer, mellower sound with excellent responsiveness — especially suited for fingerstyle and lighter dynamics.

African mahagony
Chosen for the back, sides, top and neck. It adds warmth and midrange focus to the tone while offering excellent structural stability — perfect for travel guitars.

Indian rosewood
Used for the back and sides, it provides rich bass, crisp highs, and a wide tonal spectrum, making the sound more dimensional and expressive.

cocobolo
Cocobolo is a rosewood tonewood with similar sound qualities to Madagascar rosewood, but with a stronger midrange. Its striking grain and wide color range—from orange-brown to dark brown—make it a visually appealing choice for guitar backs and sides.

ENGELMANN SPRUCE
Engelmann spruce offers a well-developed tonal character with a midrange that’s a touch warmer and fuller compared to Sitka.
