I was really looking forward to my LJ 10-CM.
I took a risk since there were no LJ near me for me to play it before purchasing, so I had to go solely on reviews.
While there were many things that were right about the guitar, there were also several disappointing things that people should know about before purchasing.
Honestly, I would return it if I could, but after a few times playing it, it got scratches already so I knew I had no choice.
Pros:
It is compact as advertised, and does fit well for traveling by plane.
The fretboard and wood all are beautiful and nice and well made.
It is not as head heavy as I feared.
Cons:
Sound is muddy and shallow. This is a huge con. I do understand cedars and small body as the LJ, but it was a bit too muddy and shallow for my taste. The reviews made it seem like the sound was 5/5 but imo, it is still lacking a bit. Not terrible, but I wouldn't say it was what I was expecting from the YouTube review videos. The muddy sound makes it very difficult to strum the guitar due to the soft cedar wood.
Also due to the soft cedar wood, scratches and dents are REALLY easy to make. I played it for 20 minutes when I first got it, and I don't even know how or where, but I found a pretty noticeable scratch on the front of the guitar. Be warned.
Sound hole is also smaller than I expected so many pickups will not fit. Again be warned, make sure you measure the diameter beforehand if you are planning to install a sound hall pickup.
Because it is almost a 2000 dollar guitar, I don't think I'm being unfair when I am judging a bit heavily based on sound. If it was 1500, I don't think I would have given it a 3/5 star. But when it's 1800+ , and then they ask for 2100+ for rosewood, I do not think it is worth that much money.
Please don't take this review personally, I have much respect and thanks for Furch guitars overall.
